A Lesson In Communication.

Even where there was absolutely zero chance of gain for either he or his business, he responded to me from the other hemisphere within hours….

Given the new world of COVID and its consequences, there was a (very wise, as it turned out) suggestion that we should consider different ways of communicating with our customers. In this case, that “new way” was the use of videos. Not the highly produced glossy variety that would take forever to produce and cost the earth. Rather, those we could do ourselves, in-house and frequently.

A few weeks ago, I hit on a link at the suggestion of Verne Harnish from his “Weekly Insights”. The link was to a presentation by Pat Taggart from Align5 Films in Pennsylvania, US. The presentation gave some incredibly useful tips on making effective in-house videos. More recently, a client suggested she would love to have access to such information, which I said I would send.

Then I lost the link.

So, I found some related information which allowed me to make contact with Pat Taggart. Having completed the Contact Us box on his site, I was hopeful that he might respond. Actually, only mildly hopeful, because I was asking for information from someone who had nothing to gain from responding.

Not only did he respond, he did so within hours, he provided a number of links and offered to provide more links, or further information, if required.

WOW! What service. What generosity.

What can we all learn from this?

For one, I have made a commitment to send helpful information (it might be something we have produced internally, or it might be to something I have come across over the years) following every meeting I have. The very least I can do is respond to that interaction.

What would you do?
